Echoes Through Time

Memories are the foundation for the tree of life

Echoes Through Time is a collaborative projection piece done with fellow classmate Valentino Forcellini. Together we wanted to show the story of living between two cultures as our families come from Latin America and we study in Atlanta, Georgia. The concept stems from the idea of the tree of life and how our memories and experiences shape our story. We wanted to showcase the bright colors that fill Colombia and Mexico and bring them together in an abstract and symmetrical way. Using white boxes, we created frames for our pieces to show off videos and memories of where we’re from.

Our Process

Our idea was born from Valentino’s original idea to create a piece with frames, while I wanted to create an installation piece with reference to the town where my family was from. Our work was divided into both physical and digital aspects: I took care of creating the boxes and frames we used as well as the footage, while Valentino took care of the tree as well as the abstract graphics.
